One of the tools for effective mutual international cooperation are funds that Slovakia has the opportunity to gain from national and European funds through grant schemes. With these resources, Kosice IT Valley is trying to bring new and interesting topics in the areas of innovation, education, IT, employment, business and so on to the members. Projects are also important means of creating effective international partnerships and developing cooperation between the different actors of the private, public and state sector. They support dynamic environments and knowledge transfer to continuously improve competencies and skills for the emerging market trends.
During its existence Kosice IT Valley joined national and international projects in various fields, whether as a coordinator or project partner. It is currently implementing the following projects:
Project EXCITE („Entrepreneurs eXchange for Innovations in Europe“) 02/2015 – 12/2016
Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs is a cross-border exchange programme which gives new or aspiring entrepreneurs the chance to learn from experienced entrepreneurs running small businesses in other Participating Countries. The exchange of experience takes place during a stay with the experienced entrepreneur who helps the new entrepreneur to acquire the skills needed to run a small firm. The host benefits from fresh perspectives on his/her business and gets the opportunities to cooperate with foreign partners or learn about new markets.
The stay is partially funded by the European Union.
Project BizMOOC („Knowledge Alliance to enable a European-wide exploitation of the potential of MOOCs for the world of business“) 01/2016 – 12/2018
tackles the European challenge of enabling businesses, labour force and HEIs to increase their activities and exploitation (economies of scale) of the MOOC potential. It focuses on work force & HEI-training and the acquisition of labour market key competences through applying new methodologies for online teaching & learning. This will be achieved by creating common standards & frameworks on MOOCs by integrating the experiences from Higher Education and the business world.
Core features are:
- 11 full partners, 3 associate partners, 11 countries from HEIs & Industry (large companies & SMEs), NGOs, networks, cluster,
- Establishment of a common body of knowledge on MOOCs,
- Identifying needs, gaps & reasons for businesses, labour force and HEIs to boost their MOOC activities,
- Setting up of guidelines, recommendations & good practice in an interactive, open access MOOC BOOK,
- Developing, implementing & evaluating Open Educational Resources in the form of 3 Pilot MOOCs focusing on LLL and business key competences “Learning to learn (through MOOCs)”, “sense of initiative (entrepreneurship & intrapreneurship)” and “innovation, creativity & problem-solving” and testing different methods & didactical approaches,
- Dissemination, networking, community building & events.
BizMOOC benefits businesses, HEIs, teachers, learners & policy-makers through the core results MOOC BOOK (business & quality models, methods & tools, IPR strategies, certification, competence-based education etc.), Pilot MOOCs, BizMOOC Community & events.

Project LEGEND (2013 – 2015, LLP – Leonardo da Vinci)
“Leverage knowledge for innovation and sustainable growth” project aims to increase the useof knowledge among Slovak SMEs, thus enhancing their sustainable growth and focus on innovation. The project aims to transfer the methodology in the field of intellectual capital for SMEs and their partners.
Project MAP IT (2013, Ministry of Economy of Slovak Republic)
Mapping the functioning of Kosice IT Valley as a basis for longterm strategic development of the association. The project aims to contribute to the strategic development of the cluster Kosice IT Valley through mapping existing networks and cooperation in order to increase its competitiveness in the national and international scale .
Project IT Valley 2012+ (2012 , Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of Slovak Republic)
The main aim of the project was the creation of a communication platform for stakeholders ( IT cluster in eastern Slovakia, public authorities, research and development institutions, universities and ultimately the secondary schools aimed at educating ICT ) , which would provide space for sharing visions with emphasis on innovation and consequently generate space for collaborative activities and meet the needs of individual actors.
